Tash's Fashion Fri-Yay! 09

It's back luscious ladies, woohoo! Due to unfortunate unforeseen circumstances that came in the form of a global pandemic that is Covid-19, fashion obviously took a back seat as we have all been living in our pyjamas and/or tracksuits. I literally got to a point where I showered in the morning and changed into my day pyjamas and then showered at night and got into my night pyjamas. Living the dream, lol.

So Fashion Fri-Yay is back, but with a slightly different angle. Those of you trendsetters, trend followers or fashionistas will know about the KonMari method to declutter and other minimalist fashion trends. All good, but due to the current (and ongoing for the foreseeable future) economic climate, we are no longer in a position to just throw-away items of clothing and buy a completely new wardrobe every new season. My Fashion-Fri-Yay will continue to help you:

  • shop smartly

  • help you discover your own unique style

  • inspire you to express yourself through style by thinking outside of the box

BUT going forward, I will also help you by giving you tips and tricks on how to achieve the above by recyclycling, reusing or upcycling existing items of clothes you already have or alternatively clothes from your family, friends and community. You don't have to be rich to be stylish! All you need is to love yourself and understand (and love) your body. We're all different and as I always say, that is what makes us so precious. So own it ladies!

So this week, I'm talking sleepwear. Due to the lockdown, hilariously, sleepwear has climbed the ladder of fashion priorities. All of a sudden, we're all stuck on buying matching pyjamas so we can condone spending what we used to on our 'going out' outfits on our sleepwear. Well, gorgeous women, here's a sleepwear look that won't cost you a fortune (or even a cent) and you can still feel and look sexy and cute, while being comfy AF.

Have a watch of this week's video. You will see I splashed out the big bucks for the model (me hahaha) and obvs I couldn't be further from the stereotypical fashion version of model, but you know what...fck it. I've learned to love my body and I think it's important to showcase my ideas on, well, me. So enjoy the plethora of pose attempts (P.S. I had such fun attempting to 'model' this concept with my mobile phone attached on to random surfaces via the medium of prestik.)

01 Men's Cotton Button-up Shirt

Just in case you've been living under a rock for the last couple of decades, there is just something so sexy about a woman in a man's shirt. Some examples as seen in movies:

  • Barefoot in the Park (1967) - Jane Fonda gets it on with Robert Redford in an oversized man's shirt.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005) - Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's characters 'reconciling' their marriage while she is clad only in his button-down shirt.

Sexy AF! And not only that, really good for your skin to sleep in cotton - what a bonus.

The benefits of wearing cotton when you sleep:

  • It's a natural fibre that is lightweight, soft and comfortable.

  • It's breathable, meaning it allows your skin to breathe (causes less irritation if you are prone to such atrocities).

So ask your lover, brother, dad or male friends if they have any cotton shirts that they no longer need or want and there you go, free, comfy and sexy sleepwear.

02 Knee-high or thigh-high socks

Cold feet? Might be the reason you struggle to sleep at night as when your feet are cold, they constrict the blood vessels and causes less blood to circulate. Warm feet = good night's sleep. Other benefits include:

  • Prevents hot flashes

  • Improves cracked heels

  • Increases your ability to orgasm by 30% (well, if that's not a reason, I don't what is!)

From a fashion sense, there is something cute and simultaneously sexy about a woman in knee-high or thigh-high socks. Mainly because it exposes one of the most sensual parts of a woman's body...her thighs.

Can I also just say as a single woman who wears this outfit to bed often, it's not about dressing for your partner. It's about dressing for you and as described above, this is a super comfortable and healthy way to sleep (without breaking the bank). However, if you were planning on faking headache ;) don't wear this to bed.
