Sesame oil - the golden nugget in your skincare regime

Updated: Feb 15

Hello, you beautiful beasts of joy!

Hope you’re having a fantastic week so far, if not, go grab some dinner with some of your best humans – always helps.

Now, let’s talk about your skin. Whether you are lucky enough to be able to spend a fortune on your skin or if you’re looking for great skin on a budget, sesame oil will change your life. Before I begin, if you are near a shop, go get yourself a bottle of organic cold-pressed sesame oil. Get it now, right now.

Fantastic, now you’ve got this skin lifesaver in your gorgeous little clutches, let’s talk about this little beast and how it will improve your skin and life.

For all you yogis out there, sesame oil balances all 3 doshas (hell to the yeah). Sesame oil is full of amaze-tits properties which help make it beneficial for your skin.

Skin Benefits:

  • Antioxidant – this means the little gem can fight damage from free radicals that can harm the cellular structure of your skin.

  • Antimicrobial – oh sweet lord, it can kill harmful vomitous micro-organisms and even stop their growth.

  • Anti-inflammatory – it can reduce inflammation and swelling.

  • Low on the comedogenic scale – won’t clog those pores of yours

  • Contains Vitamin E – protects skin cells from damage caused by environmental factors (UV rays, pollution and other toxins…oh the trauma)

So even if the above means nada to you, basically it is sh*t hot for you.

How to incorporate in your life:

1. Amazing skin (especially blemish-free):

Put 1 to 2 tsp in the palm of your hands and rub onto your face and neck after cleansing at night. Leave on for ten minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

2. Amazing mouth:

Ever heard of oil pulling? No, well now you have. It’s an ayurvedic form of gargling and has many health benefits, which I’ve listed below:

  • Eliminates bad breath by removing bacteria and freshening the oral cavity.

  • Protects your teeth from cavities.

  • Alleviates over-sensitivity to hot or cold.

  • Strengthens your gums and jaw.

  • Prevents hoarseness or loss of voice and has a beneficial impact on both volume and pitch (for all you singers out there).

  • Prevents wrinkles by strengthening facial muscles.

  • Improves taste perception (for all you chefs out there).

  • Prevents dryness by moistening both throat and lips.

  • Improves immune system.

Take a comfortable dose – adults (adults 1 – 2 tbsp) and children (1 -2 tsp) – in your mouth to gargle. Swish and pull around your mouth so the oil gets all up in your mouth and teeth’s grill. Use once or twice daily for 3 – 5 minutes. Spit out in the toilet or it will clog your basin with the toxins it’s ‘pulled’. Rinse and brush your teeth.

3. Amazing eyes:

Dry eyes? Rub some on your feet before you go to bed at night and put some socks on afterwards. Your feet are linked to your body (reflexology), but especially your eyes. Bonus, softer feet.

I always make sure I have a bottle of this joy in my bathroom and I hope you start too!

You. Looked after.
