Hey there, lovely readers!
I'm thrilled to share a little about what I do. I'm the founder of Vitagen-X and co-founder of DNApal, both nutrigenetics companies in the heart of London. But here's the exciting part—while they're both in the same field, they each have their unique focus.
Let's start with Vitagen-X, DNA Testing for health. Our speciality? We delve into the depths of your genes and body to bring you enlightening reports. We want to empower you with knowledge, helping you better understand what makes you, well, you!
Now, let me introduce you to DNApal. Picture this: personalised advice and support right at your fingertips through a super user-friendly mobile app. We're all about taking your DNA data and weaving it together with your current lifestyle and diet to craft tailor-made recommendations. And the best part? Our tech-savvy platform ensures that as new insights pop up, we're evolving with you every step of the way.
Oh, and did I mention? Our app plays nice with DNA data from not just us but also 23andMe, Ancestry.com, and, of course, Vitagen-X.
Now, here's a little about me—I've been diving into the world of clinical nutrition and nutrigenomics since 2015. My goal? To help you level up your health and well-being by making choices that are uniquely suited to your genetic makeup and lifestyle.
Let's talk about the bigger picture for a moment. Our society is grappling with various health challenges, many of which can be tackled head-on with the right nutrition and lifestyle tweaks. That's where understanding your genetic blueprint comes into play—it's a powerful tool in your arsenal for improving your health, happiness, and longevity.
I'm on a mission to ensure that your health span matches your lifespan. Because when you feel your best, you can truly live your best. So, here's to embracing the journey toward a healthier, happier you!
My favourite gene/s and why?
COMT gene - responsible for breaking down adrenaline, dopamine and oestrogen. This gene’s impact is observable outwardly in people’s personalities, from being a risk taker or risk averse to enjoying or avoiding challenges (depending on which version of the gene you inherit) and how you handle stress.
Interesting client case studies
One of our male clients, age 30, had suffered from asthma since childhood and needed an inhaler almost daily. DNA results highlighted lactose intolerance. We made diet changes, removing lactose-containing foods. After a week, he no longer needed his inhaler and now only uses it when he unknowingly consumes lactose.
A female client, 48 years old, was struggling to lose weight despite following a “calorie deficit” and doing cardio training daily. DNA results showed that calorie deficit could harm weight loss and stress response in the body and that her ideal fitness type was high-rep weight training. We switched her diet to more whole foods, increasing protein and healthy fats and limiting simple carbs. She changed her fitness routine to include weight training and less cardio. After 3 months, her body composition had improved dramatically. She felt more energetic and was experiencing better sleep!
