Dearest humans,
Have a seat, today I’m going to talk about self-care.
What is this self-care I speak of, you may ask? Well, I’m glad you asked, it is any activity or action we take deliberately in order to take care of our emotional, mental and physical health. (The fact that I just talked to myself in this paragraph may be a sign I need to check my mental health lol).
And let me tell you, it is scary how many of you beautiful humans out there, forget about you.
My challenge for you this week is to start your self-care list. Here’s how it works.
Your daily list
Start by compiling a list of things that make you happy, content and that can be done between 10 and 30 minutes. Here are some examples:
Meditate
Cuddle your pet
Dance like a lunatic to your favourite song/s
Flip through a magazine
Paint your nails
Sit outside
Watch funny videos on YouTube
Listen to Debussy with banana peels under your eyes
Read Tash’s blog
Update your self-care list
Then actively find 10 – 30 minutes every day where you complete one of the items on your list.
Your weekly list
Now start thinking of things you want to do that would take between an hour or 2. Again here are some examples:
Hike
Manicure
Massage
Watching a good movie
Boxing class
Try and recreate the dance moves from Step Up
Then actively do one of these buggers on your list once a week.
Your monthly list:
Last, but not least, start writing down some activities that will take more than 2 hours. Some examples below:
Dinner with your friends
Yoga retreat
Day at the spa
Pottery workshop
Board games with your mum
Keep on adding to the list as you continue the glorious plod of life and more importantly, do it! In summation:
Daily: 10 - 30 minute activities
Weekly: 1 - 2 hour activities
Monthly: 3 hours and more
There is no such thing as ‘I don’t have time’. You do and YOU choose how to use it. You need to take care of yourself. It does not make you selfish, it makes you intelligent.
Have a fantastic week beautiful people!
